Beginner FAQ
1. Should I choose a single-ply or double-ply board?
- Ski (Twin skis): Elegant with a strong sense of speed, and easier to maintain balance (similar to inline skating or ice skating). Ideal for those who enjoy speed or smooth, comfortable runs.
- Snowboard (Single board): Strong personal style (similar to skateboarding or surfing), featuring lateral movement. It represents challenge and breakthrough, perfect for those who seek innovation and love a cool vibe.
👉 Whichever you choose, you’ll enjoy a great experience!
2. Should I hire an instructor for my first time skiing?
A professional coach is highly recommended! They can help you learn basic skills faster, avoid danger, and establish correct safety awareness.
3. How many days of course should I register for?
- Minimum Recommendation: At least 2 days (6 hours per day, full session) to build a solid foundation.
- Optimal Plan: 3–5 days, progressing step by step from leaf turns to S-turns, and learning to ski safely.
- Not Recommended: Taking only a half-day lesson is usually not enough time, as it often ends after warm-up and waiting in lines.
- For beginners, we recommend at least 2 consecutive days of full-day 6 -hour lessons. This provides a more complete learning experience and faster progress. If your schedule is flexible, we suggest a minimum of 5 full days of lessons, allowing you to progress from zero experience to an intermediate level. Using snowboarding as an example, you can learn frontside and backside leaf turns, edge changes into S-turns and begin challenging steeper slopes and various terrains. This foundation enables you to ski at other resorts with basic riding skills and a solid understanding of ski area safety.
However, everyone's learning progress is different because physiological and psychological factors can affect learning. The Xuezhui coaches will provide professional guidance and practice according to each person's situation to help you achieve your goals.
4. What is the best way to arrange the number of students in a class?
- One-on-One: The highest learning efficiency and the fastest progress.
- 1 to 2–4: The best value for money—small groups allow the instructor to give proper attention, and learning with friends makes it even more fun.
- 1 to 4–6: With a larger group, practice is done in turns and progress is slower, but it’s suitable for participants with lower stamina or those who need more breaks.
5. Can students of different levels attend classes together?
- The instructors will plan the courses and venues based on the beginner level of the students, which may slow down the progress of more advanced students. Therefore, it is recommended that students with significantly different levels book separate classes to ensure that each student has a good learning experience.
